Let dus present ourselves: Jantien Kahn en Jessie Ehlhart, the initiators of The Art Cooperative. Now that we are an official cooperative company, we strive to expand our artist-community.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Jantien Kahn <\/strong>(1972) is a full-time stone sculptor living and working in Amsterdam as well as in Brittany (FR). After an Artist in Residency in Brittany in 2014, Jantien decided to move her studio in Amsterdam to the Brittany countryside. Her workshop in Brittany is nestled between land and sea. For a period of 7 years, Jantien worked exclusively in Brittany, where the landscape and the Brittany coastline provide a source of inspiration for her sculptural work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jantien selects the stones she uses with great care and processes them, largely manually, then with precision into unique sculptures. Jantien regularly participates in exhibitions and also develops her own initiatives such as open studios or home exhibitions to bring her work into contact with interested parties. Her images are included in private collections at home and abroad. Since 2020, Jantien also has a studio in Amsterdam, allowing for a smooth exchange between the Netherlands and Brittany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jantien is motivated to continue realising her projects through The Art Cooperative and to live and work as an autonomous sculptor in a way where the balance between giving and receiving is guaranteed and money is above all a means to make things possible.<\/strong>

Jessie<\/strong> Ehlhart<\/strong> (1972) is a Dutch\/ Australian composer, living and working in Amsterdam and Brittany (FR). After having pursued a career as a music therapist and University teacher in that field she has focused on composing mainly vocal music since 2013. Electronics and percussion, keyboards, wind and string instruments also appear in her composition. Text and the human voice as a form of expression almost always play an essential role.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to musical compositions, Jessie Ehlhart creates short video documentaries with a layered design in which image and sound reinforce each other. Jessie has an affinity with connecting with other art forms. For example, she has repeatedly performed newly written pieces of music inspired by sculptures and her piano and vocal improvisations have been used in choreographies and dance performances.

Jessie hopes to realise more of her projects through The Art Cooperative. Projects in which image and sound, masters and students, professionals and enthusiasts can meet one another.<\/strong> One of her latest projects is the creation of Wayland’s Song’.
