Vision and background
The basic idea of The Art Cooperative is: Creating a partnership that unites people around creative art!
THE PEOPLE THAT ARE CONNECTING IN THE ART COOPERATIVE
On the one hand, it is about people from the creative art disciplines. People who are highly motivated to create new work. On the other hand, it’ s about people who have money to spare and would like to contribute to making and showing these new works of art. Thus we are trying to connect talent, knowledge, experiences and money by bringing people and resources together.
ADDED VALUE
The added value of this cooperative form is that there is continued involvement between giver and recipient because the money that the participants make available remains in their name. A major difference with Foundation or Crowdfunding is the ‘relationship’ between artist(s) and participants. This relationship continues even after a deposit has been made. After all, the money ‘is’ in the company.
You immediately experience what it takes for a creative artist to function. This happens because the artist shares information and informs the network of upcoming projects and their costs. The fact that participants/funders are involved first-hand in the creation of new work is both fun and useful. Sometimes great ideas and tips come from the network and new contacts are made.
The size of your financial contribution is made tangible in the form of certificates and it will remain in your name until a different decision is made in the future. Part of the contribution may be converted into a donation or the participant may decide that the time is right to use or take home a sculpture, painting or piece of music from the cooperative.
HOW DOES THE ART COOPERATIVE FUNCTION?
A cooperative company is established by notarial act and has articles of association. A cooperative also has an objective and consists of members/participants. We have divided the members into 3 categories: creating (A) members, investing (B) members and providing capital or guaranteeing (C) members/companies
The founders of the cooperative appoint a board. Subsequent appointments will be made upon nomination and if there is no objection from the members. See also the articles of association. The current board consists (for the time being) of Reinoud van Bemmelen, Jessie Ehlhart and Jantien Kahn. The board convenes an annual membership meeting and provides accounting accountability through an administration to be maintained.
