The pleasure of making, The joy of giving;
A sustainable connection
Welcome
The Art Cooperative is an organization in which the worlds of art and the new economy come together. The Art Cooperative forms the core around which various participants make art (projects) possible with their own support network.
WHY HAVING AN ART COOPERATIVE?
Artists have been essential members of society since time immemorial. The need to support creative artists has already been felt in the distant past and remains as great in our current social ‘climate’. It is precisely for this reason that it is important that the value of art and artists is consistently brought to attention and that individual makers are supported in their existence.
ORIGINS
Stone sculptor Jantien Kahn took the initiative to start ‘The Art Cooperative’ 10 years ago. Jantien creates work independently and has exhibited and sold her sculptures in The Netherlands and abroad since 2004. In 2014, Jantien started building a network of active involvement. She has done so by making targeted and regular contact with people who are interested in her sculptures. She keeps her supporters informed of new developments through newsletters and sometimes personal contact. Jantien’s network has now become an active support group and consists of people who find it valuable to support Jantien in the progress of her artistry. They do this in the form of ideas and advice and through financial support. Partly thanks to The Art Cooperative, Jantien was able to participate in various foreign projects and exhibitions over the past 10 years. She was also able to continue creating during the Covid years. There are now more than 27 participants in her work.
EXPANSION
The Art Cooperative has been an official cooperative company since April 2024. The Art Cooperative consists of makers (A members), private financial supporters (B members) and company members (C members). At present, the A-members/ artists participating in The Art Cooperative are founding sculptor Jantien Kahn, composer Jessie Ehlhart, painter Irene van der Laar and sculptor Irene Schwartz. The Art Cooperative is ready to expand with both makers and financial supporters. We want to encourage more artists to participate in this community and find more private individuals and companies who would like to contribute to the creation of visual work, music or dance (performances). This can be done with a relatively small amount of money. It’s about doing business together and learning from each other. In this way we jointly create and maintain a basic livelihood for artists.
JOINING THE ART COOPERATIVE
You join The Art Cooperative as a private individual by registering with us and transferring 10 euros to: De Kunstcoöperatie U.A., BIC/SWIFT: TRIONL2U, account number/ IBAN: NL57TRIO 0320 8642 02. From that moment on you are a supporting member [1]. This amount is separate from the capital invested and you will also get it back if you ever leave The Art Cooperative. We would like to receive an email at the same time at info@kunstcooperation.nl with your (request for) registration, address details and an explanation for whom or which project your invested money is intended for.
In addition to the €10 registration fee, you can make an initial contribution to The Art Cooperative of 10 euros or a multiple thereof. Always indicate for whom the money is intended. If you would like to support The Art Cooperative in a general sense, or a specific art discipline as a whole, please mention that. For every 10 euro deposit you receive 1 art unit or participation, which is administered as a virtual certificate. You can then include this in your own accounting as proof of invested capital.
Support this great initiative by becoming a member of our art community and make a (first) contribution to The Art Cooperative!
[1] You become a non-liable B-member of The Art Cooperative. If you would like to participate as an artist, you can contact us and tell us something about your work. We then check whether there is a match. Do you have a business and would you like to register? That is wonderful! Email your membership request to info@kunstcooperation.nl and we will submit it to the board.
